French Association of Gay and Lesbian Parents and Prospective Parents
Association des Parents et futurs parents Gays et Lesbiens 

Our association was founded in 1986 for those individuals or couples dealing with issues 
concerning their homosexuality and child rearing and/or the desire to raise children .

We provide a supportive, non-judgmental space for the sharing and exchanging of experiences, reflections and ideas concerning parenting and the desire for children.

We are also an association with several concrete goals :

The defence of all forms of parenthood

Action for social and legal recognition of gay and lesbian families :

Helping to end discrimination against gay men and lesbian women

in the determination of their custody rights in divorce cases
in the processing of their applications to adopt as single persons.

Obtaining equal rights, particularly those concerning:

adoption by same sex couples
second parent adoption (when the child has a single known parent)
donor insemination for single lesbians or lesbian couples

APGL : a place of conviviality

Get together, times for sharing among members

convivial weekends and evenings
Activities organised for members' children outings,, activities, Christmas tree...

Discussion Groups

divorced parents,
partners of gay/lesbian parents,
co-parenting,
artificial insemination,
adoption...

Thematic debates with outside speakers on such themes as :

human rights and the right to happiness
succession and models of parenting
fundamental needs of children and how to care for them
family constructions and step-parenting...

 

APGL: a place of reflexion, exchange and visibility

Involvement and contact with politicians, the media, other gay/lesbian organisations...

Involvement and contact with professionals in the fields of : social work, justice, psychology, sociology, politics, science...

Creation of a collective for studying the issue of adoption with the participation of different associations, scientists, political activists and others

Gathering and translating publications and documents concerning same-sex parenting

Publication of the "petit guide ..." (little guide of bibliographies designed for families with same-sex parents")

Organisation of the colloquium: "Gay and Lesbian Families in Europe"

Participation in French and European Gay Pride events
